News / Conversion Complete!
« Last post by fwoom on April 28, 2010, 11:10:56 PM »
I know it may be hard to appreciate since the site looks exactly the same, but everything has been converted internally from bulky tables to CSS styling! Theoretically, the site now consumes less bandwidth and loads faster, though for a site this small, it really doesn't matter...

In more manga-related news, Onemanga has suspended all of the "mature" series from their site! To quote the mainpage:

We are sorry for the inconvenience during this time, but do understand that in the USA, there is very low tolerance for pornographic content on sites like OneManga that attract a sizable crowd of younger readers. If we do not do a sweep like this, OneManga may be closed forever.

Onemanga may be closed forever. Well, well, well.

My teacher mentioned the other day that it was hard to measure bestsellers in China because of all the piracy going on. I feel like that's how it is nowadays with scanlation -- everyone reads from sites like Onemanga or Mangafox, so no one group can tell how well they are really doing anymore. Not that I'm condemning them or anything. I read from Onemanga too. And hey, we're all "pirates" to begin with!

News / Go KEFI Go!
« Last post by fwoom on April 28, 2010, 12:41:52 AM »
Chapters 64 and 65 of Piano no Mori are also now out and available for download! KEFI is on a roll.

In happier news, all of the Piano no Mori scanlations currently out are now available for download! A big thanks to KEFI for the permission. The website is still undergoing invisible renovation, so bear with me while I work on that. Perhaps when the invisible renovation is over, some visible tweaking will take place.

News / A New Chapter!
« Last post by fwoom on April 17, 2010, 01:52:29 AM »
One more chapter of Piano no Mori (chapter 63) has been released by KEFI! Personally I really like the series once it moves past the childhood arc and into adulthood (or at least young adulthood), but of course I can't say the same for all readers.

Meanwhile, KEFI has granted this site permission to host their scanlations, in return for linking and crediting. Hooray! They shall be up in not-so-many days.

Beyond that, my design aesthetic has been praised and my untidy implementation chastised, so I shall be streamlining code and working in the nitty gritty realm of Where You Can't See for a while before getting back to any actual updating of content. But have no fear, it will get done. Eventually.

News / A Little Bit of Renovation
« Last post by fwoom on April 05, 2010, 08:26:36 PM »
A brand new smankin' set of forums are now up for public usage, and news will be aggregated through an RSS feed from the news board from now on, instead of edited manually. Various other parts of the site are being updated as we speak, hopefully for the better.

During this long absence, Piano no Mori has progressed! The 16th volume came out in 2009, right on schedule, and has since been made available in both Taiwan and Hong Kong. The 17th volume came out in Japan just two weeks ago, on March 23rd, 2010, and the series continues to be serialized irregularly in Kodansha's Morning magazine. The full set of volumes 1-14 may be purchased on Kodansha's website for only ¥7650, or about 80 US dollars. How will Kai do in the International Chopin Competition, I wonder...?

edit: Small updates. As you can see, the RSS feed has been successfully integrated and all that remains is formatting and old newspage cleanup.
